* Please join RIMTA as we celebrate Excellence in Mathematics Education on Wednesday, May 20th, 5:00-6:30 pm at the Warwick Public Library.  We will be announcing our 2026 Teacher of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Student of the Year awardees, as well as standing alongside Nikki Greene's family to announce the inaugural recipients of the Nikki Greene Legacy of Excellence Pre-Service/Early Career Teacher Grant. 

This is open to the public - please join us!

* RIMTA proudly presents Artificial Intelligence in Teaching and Learning, an online series led by Dan Kelley and Dr. Nicole King. Sessions will focus on AI Literacy, Safety, Policy and more! Sessions run April 29 and June 4, 7:00-8:15 pm. Register today under the EVENTS tab. 


* RIMTA has created the Nikki Greene Legacy of Excellence Pre-Service/Early Career Teacher Grant and is now accepting donations under the DONATIONS tab. The next application cycle will begin late in the Fall of 2026. You can read more details about the both Nikki and the Grant on the tab under AWARDS.

* RIMTA was pleased to participate in the 2026 STEAM Expo sponsored by the Rhode Island Department of Education.  We had a great time with legos, arrays, tangrams and more showing students, teachers and families that Math Matters in Rhode Island!

When you join RIMTA, you automatically become a member of the Association of Teachers of Mathematics in New England (ATMNE).  ATMNE members receive invitations to regional conferences and more.  

PURPOSES of RIMTA

  • to promote an active interest in mathematics and its applications
  • to provide opportunities for the exchange of ideas and materials related to the instruction of mathematics
  • to work for the improvement of mathematics instruction at all levels
  • to further the cooperative study of problems related to the teaching of mathematics at the elementary, middle school, high school and college level
RIMTA is an affiliate of NCSM and a partner affiliate of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).

RIMTA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
